HOW TO MAKE A BAROMETER:
------------------------------------
Background:
A barometer is a meteorological instrument used to measure atmospheric pressure. Atmospheric pressure is important because it can indicate fronts, or boundaries between air masses, which can bring stormy weather. Therefore knowing the pressure is vital to predict the weather.
Materials:
-----------
1. 1 coffee can or other large can (preferably having a diameter greater than 10'')
2. 1 balloon
3. Scissors
4. Tape
5. A rubber band
6. Another barometer or the Weather Channel (for the scale)
7.	A straw
8.	Paper (1 8.5'' by 11'' sheet should be enough)
9.	My Forecast APP (okay, you don't NEED it, but why else would you download this document?)

Procedure:
-----------
	The barometer:
1. Wait for a day that is fair weather before doing making your barometer.
2. Gather materials and find a good workplace.
3. CUT the balloon just below its diameter. (see fig. 1)
4. STRETCH the balloon around the top of the coffee can. (see fig. 2)
5. Use your rubber band, etc. to keep the balloon in place by wrapping it around the lid, over the balloon. (see fig. 2)
	The scale:
6. CUT the straw into a point (see fig. 3)
7. TAPE the blunt end of the straw to the center of the balloon. (see fig .3)
8. CUT the paper into the shape shown in fig. 4 and tape it to the side of the barometer so it touches the needle (straw).
9. Turn on the Weather Channel or your other barometer and make a marking on the paper where the needle points and write the pressure under it.
10. Repeat step 9 for a few days until you get a wide range of pressures.
**IMPORTANT: keep your barometer in a place with minimal temperature change to ensure accuracy.
